                                                                                                          Sea of Love

My work reflects the way I see the ocean and how I view life under the sea. I created a collection of mystical hybrid sea creatures that have various humanistic qualities that express and encompass human body forms. My art focuses specifically on the misfits from the ocean seafloor; I feel that I’m their voice and the individual that brings them life. While my sculptures reference real life sea creatures, my primary focus is to create my own new sea life species that hasn’t yet been explored or discovered.

I sculpted my sea creatures from clay and each hybrid animal has chosen human names and contains multiple body parts with varying patterns and textures. All within a metallic color scheme, my choice of color is a symbolic reference to the toxins that can be found on our ocean’s seafloors. My sea creatures represent species that have evolved and genetically mutated as a result of pollution. All of my sea creatures thrive and survive given the toxic habitat that they are provided as they swim at the bottom of the sea.

My series, titled the “Sea of Love” represents everything that I love most about the ocean. From a brilliant display of colors to diverse new forms of life, my hybrid, creatures manifest their own unique beauty on the ocean seabed. My creatures incorporate both the humanistic and abstract qualities of life, I hope that meeting my sea hybrid family will allow you to have a better understanding and representation of the ocean seafloor.
